Your HVAC system, otherwise known as your “Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning” system, works throughout the day to keep your entire home at a desired temperature. Having an Attic that resembles a mini sun above your home will naturally cause your Hvac system to work that much harder. Lowering your AHT (Average Home Temperature) will lower your Hvac’s usage therefore saving you dollars and maintaining your systems efficiency for the long haul.
MOLD PREVENTION METHODS
Solar Airflow fans use the sun and the natural process of thermal stratification, which is the layering of rising air, from cool at the bottom to hot at the top, which cools the lower attic and living area ceiling below it. Unlike conventional fans which are installed near the top of the attic, Solar Airflow's fans use multiple spaced supply fans to push cool dry air from under the shaded roof overhangs into the attic and across the top of the ceiling insulation, then towards the center of the ceiling, creating a cool and dry layer between the ceiling and the hot attic air above it.
House attics trap three things: hot air, heat from the sun, and moisture. The stagnant air comprised of heat and moisture pushes down into the house's living area while the HVAC system is running causing it to use a lot more power to maintain cool temperature levels, which creates problems such as the growth of mold and mildew inside of your home. Mold can also form where the air-conditioned ceiling meets the hot attic air; when this happens, the living area will feel damp, musty, and visible molds are able to begin growing throughout your walls, ceiling, furniture, food and personal items.
